World Economic Forum Davos:No time for a Child?30 political leaders, 1900 businessmen and 400 scientists met this year for 30th WEF in Davos to improve the world. It is a big chance as the elite of mankind with enough scientific knowledge, enough money and enough political power to take efficient decisions are united. Our request to the organiser, Prof. Dr. Klaus Schwab, to sacrifice 5 minutes of his precious time during the 6 days' forum, in order to receive a message from a six-year-old child, has been rejected. The Bruno-Manser-Fonds therefore decided to bring the childs message to the leaders of the WEF and the public by air, just before the arrival of President Clinton in Davos. Three men (Stefan from the Swiss Acro-Team, Hubert and Bruno) started with their paragliders from a nearby mountain with some delay due to bad wind conditions and helicopter patrols by the army. The three opened their banners during the flight and could land without being put in danger or endangering anybody near the conference center. For the Future Generations: The flags of Malaysia and the name of the Penan and Sarawak's Chief Minister Taib on a paraglider drew attention to the destructive logging politics there and the need to act. The drawing of the six-year-old Clara «Save the Rainforest!» has been handed to the reception of his hotel for Prof. Klaus Schwab.
We wonder how much Prof. Klaus Schwab and the members of the WEF the global-leaders will care for children's concerns in the near future, and will bring efficient remedies to save the world's last virgin forests. We invite the members of WEF:
Heartfelt thanks to the Swiss police and security, who have been correct and friendly all the time and in respect of our peaceful action for a good cause which concerns all future generations. Thank you! Davos, 29th Januar 2000 |
